Sending In Your Pocket Irons

Going Out Of Town.

If you are thinking about sending in your old irons for new leather  that's great!  I know you will be happy with our service.  However, Don't send them if they will arrive the week of  June 20th thru 25th as we will be attending the BCA trade show in Los Vegas.
  Sending in Your pocket irons

If you want us to sew new leather onto your pocket irons, you need to send them to us.
Download and print out the Mail In Information file, fill in all the information, and INCLUDE IT IN THE BOX. We must have your contact information and color choices in the box with your irons.
Insure your package for at least $500, and require a signature upon delivery. Ship to:
Bankshot Antiques
40 Broadway, Suite 22
Albany, NY 12202
518-434-2800

You don’t have to take the old leathers off, especially if you want us to match the colors. If you want us to match the original colors on your old pockets, we will do our best.  Old leather can be faded and in rough shape, so I encourage you to reference the color chart and fill in the color you want. We encourage you to find an experienced pool table mechanic to install you pockets.  Please download and fill out the mail-in information sheet and place it in the box with your pockets.
Due to a recent influx of pocket sewing jobs and some approaching deadlines for table restorations, new arrivals of pocket irons will not be “on the bench” for 60 days.  We are sorry for any inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and patronage. We know you will be happy with the finished product once you receive it.  – Dave & Don, Bankshot Pockets, 10/12/2020

Turnaround time:
We started as, and still are a table restoration shop. Our time is split between this and pockets.  We are pleased that we can fill this need and keep the old tables out there going.  Our turnaround time is fluid but you should be prepared for a 8-10 week turnaround, longer as we complete and deliver tables. Updated 10/12/2020

We try to prioritize the billiard mechanics and sellers/service providers so your time could slip a little bit, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We offer the traditional color that we see on antique tables and that we find on our own,  Blacks and browns. We use an oil dye and finish them with wax giving the pockets the nice feel of an old saddle.

It also should be mentioned that leather we use varies a little in shade and the oil die we use can be somewhat variegated over the pocket.  There is also the possibility that the color could be a touch lighter or darker than our sample board.
Leather is a natural material.  The grain and cut will work as they want to produce a beautiful piece of leather work.

Sand and Seal Irons

Picture

Most of the antique #3 irons were nickel plated but over 100 years or so the nickel doesn't fare so well.
Re-nickeling can cost as much or more than the whole job without it.  We got tired of putting our nice new leathers on sets of pitted rusty irons.  We have a cheaper alternative.
For a charge of only $50 we will sand and lacquer seal your #3 irons giving them a brushed metal look.  Results will depend on how pitted the rusty they have gotten.
